Summertime is almost here, and that means more time outdoors. That includes beach days, eating ice cream, playing outdoor games and many more. These activities can lead to stubborn stains on clothing or furniture that can be tricky to remove. Here are some tips on how to treat summertime stains:
Grass Stains
Grass stains are inevitable and can often be tricky to remove. Most common grass stains can be removed with a vinegar solution consisting of two-parts water and one-part vinegar. Dab the stain fabric with the solution and wait for 15 minutes. After the fabric has been soaked, rinse it with laundry detergent. For more intense stains, you can repeat this process until the stain is gone.
Sunscreen Stains
Spending a large amount of time in the sun means more sunscreen use. But, accidents do happen and sunscreen may get on clothing or furniture that can create a stain. To remove sunscreen stains, dab the spot with a dry cloth to remove any excess sunscreen. Then, use cornstarch to absorb the oil and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Once the time is up, soak the fabric in hot water mixed with laundry detergent and then wash it normally.
Ice Cream Stains
Summer is not summer without ice cream! With the heat, ice cream can become messy quickly and cause stains. In order to treat these stains, gently wipe the fabric and then soak it with cold water and laundry detergent for 30 minutes. If the fabric is white, you may be able to use a diluted bleach solution to remove stains, but do not leave it on for more than 10 minutes.
Stains in general can be irritating and inconvenient. Especially in the summer, more people will experience these types of stains. With the right tips and tricks, these stains will be gone with little to no hassle.
