Even in cleaning routines, most people often forget about the importance of cleaning the refrigerator. This space should be cleaned regularly and thoroughly to ensure that the food inside is perfect for consumption. Here are the steps to correctly clean your fridge:
- Go through existing food and throw out any old or expired items. This will free up some space in the fridge for more food and prevent any bacteria from growing.
2. Remove everything from the fridge, including shelves. Everything should be able to be removed and sanitized, especially any jars or bottles that may appear sticky. This is also a great opportunity to make sure no bottles have leaks.
3. Once the shelves and drawers are removed, you will want to clean them as well. You can place them into the sink and soak them in your choice of cleaner. After they soak, you can remove them and dry them with a microfiber towel.
4. Now it’s time for the inside of the fridge. This is the time to be tedious and wipe down everything. Depending on the fridge, you can either wipe it down with a spray cleaner or simply use disinfectant wipes. If there are any stains or hard to remove marks, you can use a sponge with baking soda to remove them. After this is done, you want to make sure to dry everything to prevent any mold production.
5. Now the inside is clean, you should clean the exterior. If your fridge is stainless steel, make sure to use a microfiber cloth to prevent streaks. For other materials, make sure to use a disinfectant wipe or polish to make your fridge look spotless!
6. Optional tip: If your fridge is older or you haven’t checked the condenser coils in a while, it is good to remove any dust or debri that may have been collected.
7. Lastly, insert all the shelves and drawers along with any food items. Now you have a perfectly cleaned fridge!
