Window Cleaning Tips

Windows are a main part of your home and often one of the first things seen by guests. The light can easily show dust and dirt that is present on windows and sometimes a simple cleaning might not be enough to completely clean the window. Here are some tips and tricks on how to perfect cleaning your windows:

Clean Windows on a Cloudy Day

Usually people clean their windows on a bright and sunny day, but this will dry up the glass too quickly leaving streaks. Not to mention that these streaks can be a pain to get rid of. Sometimes, when trying to clean streaks off a window, it ends up making more streaks. Cleaning on a cloudy day will let the window dry gradually without leaving streaks or marks.

Remove Curtains and Blinds

What most people don’t know is a reason why windows can look dirty or quickly accumulate dust and dirt is because of blinds or curtains. The dust clings to the fabric of the curtains and hides between the blinds. When the dust builds up, it often results in the windows becoming dirty. When cleaning windows, it is important to remove all surrounding items and clean them as well.

Microfiber Cloth

Since glass windows are transparent, streaks can be seen easily when using a traditional paper towel or normal washcloths. Microfiber cloths leave no streaks and don’t damage the glass. They easily pick up dirt and leave the window looking new and shiny.

Hidden Spots

Dirt and dust can hide in overseen places including window seals and window edges. These places often leave the window as a whole looking dirtier than it actually is. When cleaning the window, these spots should be cleaned as well. With a simple damp cloth, these areas can be quickly cleaned.
